Delivery Report for LTP 2001-2006
LTP 1 Delivery Report
The Merseyside LTP Partnership have produced Annual Progress Reports that have been submitted to the Department for Transport since July2001. The aim of these has been to report on progress in the delivery of the first LTP, in terms of spend, deliverables and targets. The first LTP period drew to a close at the end of March2006 and the DfT required the LTP partnership to submit a comprehensive review of delivery over the 5-year period.
This Delivery Report is, therefore, a retrospective account of schemes delivered and LTP funding committed. Briefly, the report outlines the achievements that have been witnessed in Merseyside since April 2001, including:-
-
The refranchising of Merseyrail Electrics and refurbishment of the trains;
-
The development and launch of the flagship Liverpool South Parkway and associated bus links;
- The launch of JobLink demand responsive bus services, to link disadvantaged communities with new opportunities;
-
Major bus corridors implemented between Liverpool and Southport and in St Helens;
- Improved interchange opportunities have been provided at 6 stations. This includes better bus/rail connections, and the provision of 5000 Park & Ride spaces; and
-
Major improvements to Liverpool City Centre, St Helens and Southport for all road users.
The report also included reports on delivery by the wider LTP partnership and the achievements made in respect of road safety, TravelWise travel awareness initiatives, highway maintenance, walking and cycling measures.
