Transport, Health and Environment

Access to transport offers us more than you might realise. It offers access to education, employment, health care, food sources, and leisure activities.

An accessible transport system is vital in areas of social deprivation to limit social exclusion. The way we use transport can have a major effect on the quality of our environment, both locally and globally.

The Local Transport Plan aims to ensure an accessible transport system that does not impact on health and the environment. The work in this area is coordinated by the LTP Environment and Sustainability Task Group who carried out a Strategic Environmental Assessment and Health Impact Assessment, (SEA/HIA), as well as other projects to address important Quality of Life Issues.

On Merseyside we have a Transport, Health and Environment Forum which meets regularly to bring the three sectors together to informally discuss issues of mutual interest and share information.

You are welcome to join this forum, contact the LTP Support Unit on ltp@merseytravel.gov.uk to join or for more information.
